Mummification Process
- Embalming: Embalmers washed the dead body with water from the Nile then coated it with good-smelling palm wine.
- Removing of the Organs: One of the Embalmers made a cut in bodies side. Many eternal organs were removed from this cut. A hook was put through the nostrils to the brain to smash it then pull it out through the nostrils. The heart was left in the body because the Egyptians believed the person would need it to think in the afterlife. Also they believed Ma'at would weight your hear to see if you were worthy
- The body is now covered in Natron which will dry it out
- After 40 days of drying out the body is washed with water from the Nile and covered with oils
- The body is stuffed with dry materials, like saw dust. This made the body look lifelike
- The Body is then covered with good-smelling oils again
- The body is then wrapped with linen. Each of the fingers a toes are wraped individually. Next the entire body is wrapped. They placed ammulets in between the layers of wrapping to protect the body.
- A priest reads spells to protect the body
